OK, well, its mostly alliteration Monday - I couldn't think of any m-words to put in for El Paso. Regardless, the weekend brought with it a bunch of good news. Enjoy!
A picture is supposed to be worth a thousand words, but these pictures, I'd say, are worth about a million. Congrats to all of those recently married - Equality Texas wishes you many happy returns! [NYT]
Governor Perry says that "gay marriage" - we prefer the term marriage equality - is a state's rights issue, and that the Yankees up in New York can have marriage equality if they want it. Well, Governor Perry, equality isn't a state's issue; it's a federal issue. "All men [and women, and gender-nonconforming folk] are created equal," remember? [Statesman]
On that note, Maryland's Governor Martin O'Malley will be making marriage equality a top priority next year! [WFAA]
Last week we told you about the effort to recall three El Paso city leaders due to their support of equality. Well, that's still happening, but Jodi Casey is fighting back with a campaign in support of Mayor Cook and city Reps Byrd and Ortega. Atta' way, Jodi! [El Paso Times]
The Montrose Remembrance Garden, a living vigil to the victims of anti-LGBT crimes, will be dedicated in Houston on Thursday at 8pm. The memorial will stand only a few blocks from the intersection at which Paul Broussard was murdered in 1991. [Culture Map]
