CORPUS CHRISTI — Portland police have released a sketch of a suspect in the shooting of Mollie Olgin and Mary Kristene Chapa.
Mollie Judith Olgin, 19, of Ingleside, and Mary Kristene Chapa, 18, of Sinton, were found shot on June 23 at a Portland park. Olgin died at the scene and Chapa remains hospitalized.
Olgin and Chapa were found early that morning by visitors to Violet Andrews Park.
The sketch of the suspect was done with the assistance of an eyewitness to the attack, according to a Wednesday news release from Police Chief Randy Wright.
The eyewitness, whose identity has not been disclosed by police, described the suspect as a white man in his 20s with brown hair standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds.
Wright has said a resident who lives adjacent to the park told police they heard two loud bangs just before midnight the night before the teens were found but thought they were firecrackers. Investigators believe at about that time the women walked with their assailant down a trail into knee-deep grass, where they were shot with a large caliber handgun.
Anyone who believes they may know the identity of the suspect can call the police department at 361-777-4444. Reports may be made anonymously.

I feel furious with the shooter at the same time I feel really sorry for the loss of the family for the two sisters. I wish she can be recovered soon and hoping that the government will support the family financially. Thanks to the courageous witness.
